President Ends DNA Collection from Immigrants

DHS will continue to collect limited biometric data.

President Biden’s administration revealed on Friday that it intends to reverse a policy from the previous administration at the Department of Homeland Security that sought to increase the amount of biometric data collected from immigrants. The White House had reopened the plan for public comment and determined that it would no longer move forward with the expanded data collection protocol.

The plan would have expanded the amount of biometric data to include eye scans, voiceprints, and DNA. It also removed the age restriction of those under the age of 14. Homeland Security will reserve the right to collect biometric data in certain situations, but will no longer be conducting a sweeping data collection plan. Currently, all those who enter the country are required to be fingerprinted.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That officials in the Department of Homeland Security would have understanding of the needed precautions for national safety.
  • For the president and his adminstration to seek God’s guidance in domestic policy.
  • That the Lord would help Congress as it considers immigration legislation.
