Washington DC Pays Tribute to Fallen Capitol Police Officer

Officer William “Billy” Evans memorialized in Capitol Rotunda.

Members of Congress and the President gathered together at the Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday to honor and remember the life of Officer William “Billy” Evans. Officer Evans was killed during an attack on the Capitol earlier this month when he was struck by a vehicle driven by the assailant. There have only been six members of the Capitol Police who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

During the memorial ceremony, President Biden addressed the family of Officer Evans saying, “He was defined by his dignity, his decency, his loyalty, and his courage.” He also said he would be praying that Officer Evans’ loved ones would remember him with more smiles than tears in the days to come.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would give Officer Evans’ family hope and healing during this painful time.
  • For the Capitol Police who have experienced losses amongst their brethren this year.
  • That Congress and D.C. officials would cooperate in strategies to protect the Capitol.
