Texas to Deploy National Guard to Border

DHS says migrant surge is overwhelming.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he will deploy National Guard troops to counter the situation along the U.S-Mexico border.

“Today Texas launched Operation Lone Star to respond to the border crisis,” Governor Abbott stated. “It deploys National Guard and DPS Officers and air, ground, marine, and tactical border security assets to deny Mexican Cartels and smugglers the ability to move drugs and people into Texas.”

“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite the illegal immigration,” Governor Abbott said. “Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis.”

Border patrol officials are anticipating 12,000 unaccompanied children will arrive at the border this year. They have already encountered nearly 400,000 people crossing the border from October 2020 through February 2021. Over 1,000 unaccompanied children have been detained for longer than the legal limit. More than 3,200 children have been moved to holding facilities that are designed to house adults.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Governor Abbott as he deploys the Texas National Guard troops and state police to help with border security.
  • For God’s purpose to be fulfilled through the administration of the president’s immigration policies.
  • For protection for the children who are being sent to the U.S. without parents or legal guardians.
