White House Begins Investigation into Guantanamo Bay

President’s administration seeks to close the detention center facility.

The White House announced on Friday of last week that it has launched an investigation into what it would take to shut down the extrajudicial facility at Guantanamo Bay. According to White House Press Secretary Psaki, the intention of the administration is to look into shutting down the facility that houses 40 prisoners of war, considered “enemy combatants” by the U.S. government.

According to Press Secretary Psaki, “[The Biden Administration is] undertaking an NSC process… to assess the current state of play that the Biden administration, we have inherited from the previous administration.” President Trump’s administration had supported the facility, countering actions taken by the Obama administration which sought to shut down the prison.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would work through the president’s administration to accomplish the best use for the prison.
  • For the Lord to lead the Defense Department on the most effective action to take with the facility.
  • That God would guide the U.S. legal system to provide greater justice for all people.
