Border Agents Release Migrants into the U.S.

Border is not open, Secretary Blinken says.

In a reversal of the policies of recent years, migrant families who have crossed into the U.S. illegally are being released, Texas border patrol officials report. At least 1,000 migrants have been allowed to remain in Texas in recent days and hundreds more in California.

“We are seeing people arriving in Brownsville on the U.S. side,” said the strategic coordinator at the medical group Global Response Management.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that the U.S. was ending separate agreements put in place by the Trump Administration with El Salvador, Guatemala, ad Honduras that impeded their citizens from seeking asylum in the U.S. But he said, “To be clear, these actions do not mean that the U.S. border is open.”

In a statement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that some of their holding facilities were at maximum capacity. “When long-term holding solutions aren’t possible, some migrants will be processed for removal, provided a Notice to Appear, and released into the U.S. to await a future immigration hearing.”

Word that migrants were being released into the U.S. is spreading quickly among migrant camps. More waves of migrants are on their way to the border.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For border agents and other U.S. officials who are handling the influx of migrants into the U.S.
  • For God to accomplish His purposes as the “catch and release” process has been re-implemented by the president’s administration.
