Building for Hope

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Ten Easy Steps for building your own home—it is right there on the internet. And as you read the steps, you’ll find the first one doesn’t seem any more important than the others… “prepare the site and pour the foundation.” But every real builder will tell you the first step is crucial. The life and value of the entire project rest, literally, on getting the foundation right.

The same is true in your spiritual life: you can only build a quality structure on solid faith. Truth will never stand on error and hope does not come from fear. If you are to possess enough encouragement to share with others in these days of worldly chaos and distress, it must come from the heavenly realm.

Unlike a building’s foundation of poured concrete that is difficult to fix, your heavenly Father knows precisely how to make the tilting places in your spiritual foundation plumb and level. He fills the cracks with His spirit so your heart can be whole. When God corrects your foundation, you will have real joy, real peace, and real encouragement to share.

Pray Psalm 139:23-24 as a personal invitation for God to do a bit of construction work in your life today: “Search me O God and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! See if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting!” Ask God to bless America with people of faith standing on a firm foundation: their hope in Christ.
