Your Only Response

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.  – Revelation 4:11

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990. It was not the first space telescope, but it is one of the greatest and most versatile and is well known as a vital research tool and public relations boon for astronomy. It has tracked the fading light of a supernova in a spiral galaxy located 70 million light-years from Earth. The photographs it has transmitted across the years are a wonder to behold.

Nehemiah 9:6 says, “You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is in it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worship you.” The Christian Standard Bible renders the last part of the verse this way: “And all the stars of heaven worship you.” Think about that the next time you look into a starry night.

If even the stars worship the Lord who made them, is there any creation anywhere that should not do the same?  Psalm 96:9 tells you to “Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.” There is no one higher, no one greater, no one more worthy of your worship. Bow before Him today. It is your only right response. Ask God to use the things of nature to reveal more of Himself to the men and women of America and those who are in government, so that in finding Him, they might find humility, seek to know Him more, put their faith in the Lord, and worship Him alone.

Today’s Verse: Revelation 4:11

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
    to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
    and by your will they existed and were created.”

Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
    tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
    he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
    but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering, and come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth!
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
    he will judge the peoples with equity.”
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
    let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12     let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
13     before the Lord, for he comes,
    for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.
