Federal Departments Investigate Demonstrations of January 6

Seek to understand how Capitol complex security was compromised.

On Friday, the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, the Interior, and Defense launched a joint investigation into the events that transpired on January 6 when demonstrators gained access to the Capitol Building. The federal probe will analyze the response of the FBI, Pentagon, and other law enforcement agencies to the Capitol building being occupied by protestors.

The Pentagon has already indicated that the Capitol Police initially turned down an offer of help to secure the Capitol complex days prior to the riots. The Justice Department stated that it “will assess whether there are any weaknesses in DOJ protocols, policies, or procedures that adversely affected the ability of DOJ or its components to prepare effectively for and respond to the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to guide the federal probe to the truth of what transpired on January 6.
  • That God would help federal law enforcement to maintain peace and order.
  • For the National Guard as they assist in preventing unrest in Washington, D.C. in the coming days.
