Abundant Life

Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. – John 14:19

Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Heavenly Father. Yet He gives His followers an incredible gift: the person of the Holy Spirit. He sent the Holy Spirit to live in, empower, and enable believers to experience a supernatural, abundant life.

Abundant life is eternal life. It begins the moment a person receives Christ as Savior and continues throughout eternity. The biblical definition of life — specifically eternal life — is provided by Jesus Himself. John 17:3 says, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

The Lord gave His life for you 2,000 years ago so you may have eternal life. If you have embraced His love and forgiveness, you are His temple. This holy, loving, triune God, your Heavenly Father, risen Savior, and Holy Spirit, comes to live in you when you receive Him. He walks around in your body, thinks with your mind, speaks with your lips, and loves with your heart.

So as you prepare for a new year, remember that the key to a truly abundant life is knowing Him. Don’t let a moment go by without making sure He is present in your heart and life. Then allow the Holy Spirit to speak through you to share His love and truth with others so they may experience abundant life. And as you pray for those opportunities, intercede also for your local and national government officials. Ask God to surround them with believers who will faithfully pray for them.

Today’s Verse: John 14:19

Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
