Top Legislators Meet to Hash Out COVID-19 Relief

Lawmakers indicate they are close to passing a bill this week.

The leaders of both chambers of Congress met in Washington on Tuesday to discuss a highly-anticipated relief package. The bill under discussion is designed to address the economic impacts of the still-ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This would be the second of such measures from lawmakers to ease the economic burden the nation has experienced in 2020.

Among those who met was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who told reporters that he, Senate Majority Leader McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Schumer, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were “making significant progress and I’m optimistic that we’re gonna be able to complete an understanding sometime soon.” The details of the proposed bill have not been revealed, but the measure is expected to continue expanded unemployment benefits and another boost to the Paycheck Protection Program.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would guide Congress to pass the aid needed by Americans.
  • For the president’s administration to be used by God to bring about an end to the pandemic.
  • For the Lord to give help to those who are suffering financially due to the current economic status.
