Interior Announces Conservation Fund Distributions

New criteria set for greater outdoor access.

The Department of the Interior announced on Friday of last week that it had begun distributing money from the Land and Water Conservation Fund into a variety of investments. Thanks in part to the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act of 2020, the Department has put together new criteria for investing the funds into local and state government conservation and recreation projects.

According to Secretary Bernhardt, “These actions ensure land acquisitions will increase recreation opportunities, enhance conservation benefits and provide flexibility to our partners in states and local communities to ensure this investment is managed and allocated in the best possible manner.” The new criteria include prioritizing public access to recreation, increased flexibility in how governments use the money, and giving local leaders a seat at the table during planning processes.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund would bring about a healthier environment.
  • For the Lord to use the president’s administration to bring about strong stewardship of the nation’s lands.
  • That Secretary Bernhardt would be used by God to lead the Department well.
