Secretary Pompeo Calls for Peace in Ethiopia

Places U.S. support behind Ethiopian government.

The State Department issued a statement from the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo this week concerning the ongoing conflict in Ethiopia. The military was attacked by regional forces in the north of the country near the border with Eritrea. In response, the Prime Minister launched an offensive against the regional forces.

Secretary Pompeo’s statement called for peace in the African nation saying that the government should take “immediate action to restore the peace and de-escalate tensions.” He went on to say, “We are saddened by the tragic loss of life. The protection of civilian safety and security is essential.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would lead Secretary Pompeo to work with the Ethiopian government.
  • For the president’s administration to be used by God to lead the world to greater peace.
  • For God to bring peace in Ethiopia.
