Equality Versus Racism

Make your commitment toward peace.

Galatians 3:28 – For there is neither Jew nor Greek, there Is neither slave nor free, here is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Americans are facing a deep crisis. It has existed for hundreds of years on this continent, but has been part of the human condition since the earliest of days. That issue is racism. And it often has its origination in one group of individuals enslaving another.

“Whoever hates  his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes” (1 John 2:11).   Racism is sin, pure and simple. Everyone has been made in the image of God, and sin has corrupted each one. As one recent poster says, we don’t have a SKIN problem, we have a SIN problem. Not only are you one with your fellow human being in reflecting God’s image, when you are both believers, you are one in Christ Jesus, as today’s verse says.

In Ephesians 2:14 you read that Jesus came to tear down the walls that exist between people, walls built by those differences. His redeeming death was for the whole of the world, no exceptions.

If you harbor issues of racism within, then it is time to ask God to take away any bitterness, prejudice or anger you are carrying, and fill your heart with his unconditional love. Love others the same way that Christ has loved you, or you cannot say that you are following Him.

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, With your aid and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I commit today to do these things I will refuse to accept cultural prejudices; accept others in the love of Christ; conform to Christ’s way of viewing people; initiate agape love into all relationships; speak up when racism shows up; and make a commitment to peace.

For the sake of unity and for the love of all who are in Christ Jesus, and of Your love for the world,

Amen.
