COVID Antibody Treatment Expected by Year-End

Government is acquiring doses as they are manufactured.

Hundreds of thousands of doses of experimental antibody treatments for COVID-19 have already been secured by the U.S. government in anticipation of regulators authorizing their emergency use. The government expects to have one million doses of the antibody treatments on hand before the end of the year.

Those treatments came into the spotlight when President Trump received one such experimental therapy during his coronavirus illness.

Eli Lilly & Co. and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals have asked the Food and Drug Administration for emergency-use authorizations for their antibody therapies, but that clearance has not yet been forthcoming. President Trump has been pushing the FDA to quickly clear the antibody treatments, which he has called a “cure” with reference to his own response.

The doses the government is acquiring are added to the Strategic National Stockpile as they are manufactured.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump, the First Lady, and members of the White House staff as they recover from the coronavirus.
  • For research scientists, physicians, and front line responders who continue to seek the best treatments for the pandemic.
  • For the laboratory technicians, the Food and Drug Administration authorities, and others who are responsible for allowing antibody treatments to move forward.
