President Suspends COVID-19 Relief Talks

Plans to send stimulus checks after the election.

President Trump announced on Tuesday that he had instructed his administration and Republican members of Congress to cease negotiations on COVID-19 relief. Talks had stalled during the last couple of months as the House had passed a bill that included multiple areas of funding unrelated to the coronavirus, and was never voted on in the Senate.

The president said, “I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business.” The House adjusted its bill again last week – but had not reduced the size of the package, which had been a stipulation of White House negotiators.

Later in the day Tuesday, the president stated, “If I am sent a Stand Alone Bill for Stimulus Checks ($1,200), they will go out to our great people IMMEDIATELY. I am ready to sign right now.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congress to pass bills that would be beneficial to the American people.
  • For an end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • That God would help President Trump lead the nation through these difficult times.
