Cry Out to God

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.  – Jeremiah 29:12

One day in Armenia Samuel and Danielle sent their son, Armand, off to school. Samuel knelt down and looked him in the eye and said, “No matter what, I’ll always be there for you.” Hours later an earthquake rocked the area. Buildings crumbled and people were trapped under the beams and rubble. Samuel went to the pile of rubble that used to be Armand’s school. Other grief-stricken parents stood nearby weeping. Samuel found the place where Armand’s classroom used to be. He pulled a broken beam off the pile of debris. Samuel picked up a rock and put it to the side, then another and another. One of the parents asked, “What are you doing?” “Digging for my son,” Samuel answered.

Throughout the night and into the next day, he continued digging, his hole getting larger. Then Samuel heard a faint “help!” come from under the rubble. He kept digging. The faint voice came again. “Papa?” Samuel began to dig furiously, and he finally could see his son. “Come out, son!” he said. “No, let the other kids out first,” said Armand. All the children emerged until finally Armand fell into his father’s arms. “‘I told the other kids not to worry. I said that if you were alive, you’d save me and they’d be saved.”

Fourteen children were saved that day because of one faithful father.

No matter how difficult the circumstances, your Heavenly Father is always faithful to hear your cry. So lay your concerns at His feet each day knowing that He loves you with an everlasting love. As you do, pray that Christians will seek His plan for the nation.

Today’s Verse: Jeremiah 29:12

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
    “therefore I will hope in him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
    to the soul who seeks him.
26 It is good that one should wait quietly
    for the salvation of the Lord.
27 It is good for a man that he bear
    the yoke in his youth.
28 Let him sit alone in silence
    when it is laid on him;
29 let him put his mouth in the dust—
    there may yet be hope;
30 let him give his cheek to the one who strikes,
    and let him be filled with insults.
31 For the Lord will not
    cast off forever,
32 but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion
    according to the abundance of his steadfast love;
33 for he does not afflict from his heart
    or grieve the children of men.
