The righteous is established forever. – Proverbs 10:25
People who have been through earthquakes describe the ground moving and feeling like they’re on a cruise ship in a storm. Solid walls, once dependable, send breakable objects crashing to the floor. Currently, it may feel that the United States is experiencing an unseen earthquake. When the nation faces troublesome times, like it is now, with COVID, riots and the great divide between political parties, it may feel like you’re not walking on solid ground. There seems to be a shaking going on where the stability of what once was is no more. Uncertainty abounds in daily life with lost jobs, isolation, the wearing of masks, and with schools and businesses closing.
Lyrics to a favorite hymn say, “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” When you put your faith in Jesus you are putting your faith in someone who lasts for all eternity and will not be shaken. His promises are the same in difficult times as they are in peaceful times.
During these days of trouble, He still answers prayers, forgives sins, and is with you. He still makes you strong when you’re weak, accepts you in the beloved, and allows you to partake in His divine nature. He still brings you from darkness to light, death to life, and meets your needs. And He still seats you in Heavenly places, helps you prove what His will is, and allows you to be productive. Nothing is impossible with Him. Pray that God will use these times of shaking to turn this nation toward Christ the Solid Rock.
Today’s Verse: Proverbs 10:25
When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more,
but the righteous is established forever.

On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses— 6 though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
