U.S. Drawing Down Troops in Iraq this Month

Some will remain for fight against ISIS.

The head of the U.S. Central Command announced Wednesday the withdrawal of about half of the remaining American soldiers in Iraq.

”The reduced footprint allows us to continue advising and assisting our Iraqi partners in rooting out the final remnants of ISIS in Iraq and ensuring its enduring defeat,” said General Frank McKenzie, USMC, in a speech in Iraq with the Iraqi minister of defense attending.

In recent months, Iraqi security forces has seen increased development that allows the drawdown from 5,200 to 3,000 American troops.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the safety and security of American troops in Iraq — those who will be coming home as well as those who will remain.
  • For the Iraqi government as it works to prevent ISIS regaining territory and recruiting in the region.
  • For the president’s administration as peace efforts continue in the Middle East.
