Power of Thoughts

Who is in Charge of Your Thinking?

Romans 12:2 (NLT) – Do not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

How often do you “change your mind” about something?  Throughout the Bible, God challenges you on your thinking. No matter how many times you read through His Word, if your mind doesn’t change, you will simply impose your own biases and labels on the words you read.

In preparing for the coming election, negative thoughts can creep in without your even noticing it. Dr. Daniel Amen, noted American psychiatrist and brain health expert, says, just as ants can invade a kitchen, the brains can be infested by ANTS: Automatic Negative Thoughts. They rob you of your joy and steal your happiness like going after spilled sugar on the kitchen counter.

Today’s verse is one of many in the Scriptures that tell you how to kill the ANTS. It is specific. Let God transform your thinking. He can do it in one fell swoop of His mighty hand, but, more likely, will begin by cleaning “the sugar off your counter.”  Don’t believe those negative thoughts as they creep in. Substitute them by memorizing verses from the Bible that support a change. “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) is a good starting place.

Pray With Us

Loving God and Heavenly Father, Your intent is for me to have a strong mind, keeping my thoughts focused on You and on Jesus. In these days when confusion is everywhere and many are looking for mind-changes in me, I ask that Your Holy Spirit direct and guide me, showing me when the ANTS creep in, and leading me back into Your Holy Word. Thank You for loving me.

Amen.
