Depend on God

Has America forsaken its dependence on God?

Proverbs 19:21 – Many are the plans in the mind of a man but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

There is a guiding hand that led America’s forefathers to set a course for freedom for this nation…freedom for the individual, and freedom for the country. When things were in disarray at the Second Continental Congress, it was prayer that brought the delegates together.  In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln told Congress that seeking God’s blessing through prayer may be the only activity that can “nobly save…the last best hope on earth. … The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just,” he said.   As recently as 1956, Congress adopted the official United States motto, “In God We Trust.”

But do we? Has America forgotten? Are the people in government feeling so self-sufficient, so full of themselves, that they, and consequently most of the nation, no longer feel a dependence on God?

God has a plan and His plan will be carried out, with or without a nation that relies upon Him.  It is time to reassert America’s dependence upon our Creator, the One who endowed this nation with “certain unalienable rights” among which are “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  Forsaking that, forsaking Him, may well result in God withdrawing His favor.  Then what?

Pray With Us

Holy God, thank You for blessing America. Thank You for letting me be born here or at least to be here to participate in the incredible freedoms our forefathers found in You and codified in our nation’s documents to the rest of us. God, I ask, interceding for those who are in authority over us, that You not remove Your Mighty Hand from America, but that You work your plan with grace and mercy, accomplishing a return to acknowledging You are ruler over all. I pray in the Name of our King of Kings, Jesus,

Amen.
