Founders

 We must obey God rather than men.  – Acts 5:29

On this day, you might expect a quote or two from the “Founding Fathers” but, instead of that inspiration, take a moment and review WHO you define as a “Founder.”  The subject regularly shreds social media but, regardless of bias, most historians agree the short list includes; Washington, Franklin, Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, and Madison. But these six men didn’t exclusively create America, they represent a whole generation of people, diverse in race, age, gender and education all using their influence and ideas to form a government in the best interest of its people. Who can legitimately be called a “founding father” in America? Consider for a moment the list includes your name!

The Bible is clear that blessing can be passed from generation to generation “and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice” (Genesis 22:18). Each day the way you use your choices and make your voice heard is shaping society for generations to come. Every issue you support with prayer and financial resources moves the entire culture one click in that direction. YOU are actively laying the foundation others will stand upon or stumble over.

Today, give thanks for faithful men and women who have brought blessing upon America through their personal integrity and faith in God. Pray for the generation now assuming decision making responsibility. Ask that they will seek God’s blessing; looking to Him alone for their direction and disregarding pressure from worldly agendas. America’s future starts today and you are laying the foundation.

Today’s Verse: Acts 5:29

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
13 The Lord looks down from heaven;
    he sees all the children of man;
14 from where he sits enthroned he looks out
    on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 he who fashions the hearts of them all
    and observes all their deeds.
16 The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
    and by its great might it cannot rescue.
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    on those who hope in his steadfast love,
