Resuming Sports Hinges Heavily on Timely Testing

Current COVID-19 testing turnaround is around a week.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that coronavirus testing have a turnaround time of less than two days. Many states are struggling to keep up with that recommendation, with hotspots such as Tuscon, Arizona experiencing a turnaround of nearly two weeks.

Streamlining the testing process is vital to the reopening of schools and sports in the upcoming Fall season, as the NBA is discovering. The sports organization has set up a “basketball bubble” in Orlando, Florida, to prepare for hundreds of the 24 hour test turnarounds necessary to facilitate testing and training. With many states struggling to meet the test turnaround gold standard, the NBA’s efforts in that area will be observed closely.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the NBA as they test the testing required for further safe reopening.
  • For state governors as they look to follow the CDC recommendations.
  • For the Center for Disease Control as they work tirelessly to curb this virus.
