It’s Foundational!

 Every word of God proves true. – Proverbs 30:5

America’s Founders believed that if the people understood the Constitution as proposed, they would embrace its principles and ratify it. To that end, The Federalist Papers written by Madison, Hamilton, and John Jay were published in newspapers for all to read. Unfortunately these essays are seemingly ignored in most educational settings today. Senator Orin Hatch wrote in 2004 that fifty percent more teenagers can name the Three Stooges than can recite the first three words of the Constitution, “We the people.” Many signs indicate today that citizens have lost an understanding of the uniqueness of this country and its founding documents.

God’s Word was written by about 40 authors over a period of 1500 years. Scripture stands as truth. By it, you can know the Lord and understand that His ways lead to a life of blessing, even when trials come to you. The Apostle Paul wrote his protégé, Timothy, that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Just as the Constitution was foundational to uniting the states in America, God’s Word proves trustworthy to be the foundation for your life. Its overall message, as well as every detail, will be a shield for those who take refuge in Him. Trust the Lord each day to be your guide. Pray that you, as well as the leaders of this nation, will follow His leading. Seek the good way, walk in it, and “you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16).

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 30:5

26 “With the merciful you show yourself merciful;
    with the blameless man you show yourself blameless;
27 with the purified you deal purely,
    and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
28 You save a humble people,
    but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them down.
29 For you are my lamp, O Lord,
    and my God lightens my darkness.
30 For by you I can run against a troop,
    and by my God I can leap over a wall.
31 This God—his way is perfect;
    the word of the Lord proves true;
    he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock,
    and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation,
