The Rock

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8

With the COVID19 pandemic, the little things people have taken for granted, such as buying toilet paper or hugging their grandkids, have suddenly changed. The world is still reeling from the ups and downs that have taken place in a few short months. Whether the effects are long term and detrimental or resolved quickly with everything going back to what it once was, what everyone can count on is that Jesus never changes, as today’s verse says.

You can always turn to God for salvation in Christ, for forgiveness of sin and help in all kinds of trouble. By seeking God first, you can be confident that “all things” will be added to you. No matter what problems and trials the present generation is facing, you, as a child of God, can trust that He will meet your needs, just as you do all you can to meet your children’s or grandchildren’s needs. Because He never changes, you can rest in His promises and know, no matter what happens, you will have victory in Jesus.

This world is a temporary place and it is always changing. But Jesus never changes. He is the Rock you can count on. He loves you, hears you and answers your prayers. So, pray for this nation and its leaders to put their confidence in Him. Seek His mercies and healing for the land. God is not only your hope in the life to come but this present day as well. Spend time in worship, thanksgiving and seeking His face.

For God alone my soul waits in silence;
    from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
How long will all of you attack a man
    to batter him,
    like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
They only plan to thrust him down from his high position.
    They take pleasure in falsehood.
They bless with their mouths,
    but inwardly they curse. Selah
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
    for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
    my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
    pour out your heart before him;
    God is a refuge for us. Selah
Those of low estate are but a breath;
    those of high estate are a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
    they are together lighter than a breath.
10 Put no trust in extortion;
    set no vain hopes on robbery;
    if riches increase, set not your heart on them.
11 Once God has spoken;
    twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God,
12     and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
For you will render to a man
    according to his work.
