“Seek Me”

Those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. – Psalm 9:10

How easily do you become distracted? If there is one thing in these days of stay-at-home orders and the many other guidelines that one must follow, it is often difficult to stay focused. Even as you pick up your Bible, read, and come to the Lord in prayer, distractions and cares of the day can and do creep in. Self-help books and psychologists offer tips for avoiding distractions and keeping your attention. But God has a plan: Seek Him!

Take a retrospective scan of your spiritual life. Even though you may have experienced some faithless times, God has always been faithful, one hundred percent. Perhaps there have been periods of drifting, of not feeling close to Him. God has never left you nor forsaken you; He has been there for you one hundred percent. When you have experienced doubts, God has still been trustworthy, one hundred percent. He just wants you to keep seeking Him. Jeremiah 29:13 promises, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

When you enter into that quiet place today, set aside the cares of the world, the distractions that interrupt you, and seek the Lord. Seek El Shaddai, the Lord Almighty; Adonai, Lord and Master; Jehovah Jireh, your Provider; and Jehovah Shalom, your Peace. Then pray that in the midst of the chaos of our times, members of Congress and all governing officials will also seek Him for He can be found!

Today’s Verse: Psalm 9:10

And those who know your name put their trust in you,
    for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
    of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers assail me
    to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
    it is they who stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against me,
    my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
    yet I will be confident.
One thing have I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
    and to inquire in his temple.
For he will hide me in his shelter
    in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
    he will lift me high upon a rock.
And now my head shall be lifted up
    above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
    sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
    be gracious to me and answer me!
You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
