In the News…

Under new legislation proposed by Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, American coronavirus patients could sue China and the Chinese Communist Party for damages. If passed, the bill could allow for the largest negligence lawsuit in world history. It is known as the Justice for Victims of Coronavirus Act.

“The reason we have this pandemic is because the Chinese communist government unleashed it on the world,” Senator Hawley said.

“They suppressed the evidence. They suppressed the doctors. They jailed the doctors even. And now we’re dealing with this horrible disease,” the senator said. “So the victims of this disease in our country ought to be able to go into our courts and sue the Chinese government to hold them accountable and to get damages for it.”

Damages could be in the trillions of dollars.

In a speech from the Senate floor, Senator Hawley said of China, “The international order as we have known it for thirty years is breaking. Now imperialist China seeks to remake the world in its own image, and to bend the global economy to its own will.  … Are we in this nation willing to witness the slow destruction of the free world? Are we willing to watch our own way of life, our own liberties and livelihoods grow dependent on the policy of Beijing?”
