House Committee Seeks Information on Drones

Chinese equipment used by law enforcement possibly used to spy on U.S.

Members of the House Judiciary Committee have called for an investigation into the donation of drones from a Chinese company to U.S. law enforcement. In letters to the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, certain representatives voiced their concerns over the drones provided by Da Jiang Innovations, which manufactures roughly 80% of drones found in the United States.

U.S. intelligence agencies have warned that these Chinese-made drones may be used to spy on the infrastructure of America, as local law enforcement utilizes the drones to enforce the pandemic guideline of social-distancing. Law enforcement agencies and first responder organizations in 22 states were recipients of 100 drones “under the guise of helping with problems caused by the pandemic,” the letters said.

In 2017, the Department of Homeland Security warned of this Chinese company targeting U.S. sectors “to expand its ability to collect and exploit sensitive U.S. data.” The House Committee has asked whether the DOJ and DHS are currently monitoring the use of these drones and requested a list of all police forces using them.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the House Judiciary Committee to succeed in the prevention spying by the drones.
  • For the Justice Department and Homeland Security to effectively track their use and exposure.
  • That Congress would be able to secure sensitive U.S. infrastructure from foreign threats.
