Spiritual Revival

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. – John 6:44

Billy Graham grew up on a dairy farm near Charlotte, North Carolina. As a teenager, he grudgingly attended church and resented his family’s Bible-reading, praying and psalm-singing. But in 1934, some Christian businessmen held an all-day prayer meeting in his father’s pasture. One man suggested they pray that the Lord would raise up someone from Charlotte to spread the gospel around the world. Billy was 15 years old and doing his chores in the barn that day. But none of those who prayed were thinking of young Billy, who had not even given his heart to Jesus.

Then Dr. Mordecai Ham, a traveling evangelist, came to the city to hold revival meetings. One night, Billy went. He said, “I have no recollection of what he preached about, but I was spellbound. In some indefinable way, he was getting through to me. I was hearing another voice… the voice of the Holy Spirit.” After Dr. Ham finished his message, Billy went forward and invited Christ into his heart.

A few weeks later, Billy remembered hearing Dr. Ham quote Romans 5:8, that same verse Billy later used during his own crusades, televised sermons, radio messages and in person: “God loves you.” Dr. Billy Graham then went on to preach the gospel to more than 2.2 billion people in more than 185 countries and approximately 2.2 million people experienced salvation at his crusades.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will convict many leaders on Capitol Hill of their sin and draw them to the Father. Pray they receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord soon. And pray for a spiritual revival among the believers there.

Today’s Verse: John 6:44

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
