President and First Lady Commemorate VE Day

They were joined by veterans of World War II.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump went to the World War II Memorial on the Washington Mall on Friday to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe by laying a wreath at the national memorial to the fallen.

Although socially distanced, they were joined by eight veterans of the war. The youngest was 96 and the oldest 100, and they braved the threats of the coronavirus to join the president and first lady.

Current service members, veterans and the fist lady maintained their distancing guidelines, although no one was wearing a mask or other personal protective gear during the brief ceremony.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • With thanksgiving for the ultimate sacrifice made by America’s service members who were a part of defending freedom in World War II.
  • For those veterans of the war who are still living, their families, and the honor of their legacies.
