Getting to Know God

I shall give them a heart to know that I am the Lord. – Jeremiah 24:7

God wants you to know Him. Say it out loud, “God wants me to know Him.” Does this statement astound you? The God who created Heaven and Earth, talked with Adam, and made covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob wants you to know Him. The God who talked face to face with Moses and took care of the Israelites in the wilderness wants you to know Him. The God of today’s verse wants to give you a heart to know Him on a personal level. The way has been made for all people to get to know the Father through Jesus. As you come to Him in faith and trust, you will get to know Him, not just a mental assertion, but a heart-to-heart knowledge.

He wants you to know His will and ways, His purpose and plans for you and how to function in His kingdom. He wants to walk with you day by day. Like the song In the Garden says, “And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own.” Do you hear Him now—telling you that you are His own?

Run to Him knowing He wants to be known. Jesus made a way for you to come boldly to the throne of grace and find help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Pray for the leaders and citizens of the nation to seek God while dealing with the effects of the pandemic and other issues, such as the upcoming elections.

Today’s Verse: Jeremiah 24:7

I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
