Interior Department Releases Statement on National Parks

Secretary Bernhart expresses desire to reopen as soon as possible.

The Department of the Interior released a statement from Secretary Bernhardt over the weekend regarding the reopening of National Parks around the country in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The statement outlined the Interior Department’s goal of reopening parks as quickly as possible in line with the president’s Opening Up America Again policy.

Secretary Bernhart said in his remarks, “As National Park Week draws to an end, it is time the American people once again enjoy the incredible benefits of the great outdoors at our national parks, and we will be making that happen while working with our nation’s governors!” Many national areas have remained open during the pandemic, but a majority of park services have been closed.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to use the Interior Department to protect the nation’s lands.
  • For Secretary Bernhardt to be guided to the best plan to reopen the nation’s parks.
  • For the president’s administration to be given wisdom on how best to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
