The Purpose of Waiting

Psalm 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Across the past several months, Americans have been, or should have been in most cases, sitting at home, waiting for a time when the government would call out an “all clear,” and things could return to normal.

Although it is often uncomfortable, waiting is actually one of God’s good ideas for you. When He tells you to wait, even by those in authority over you, trust Him. Trust that He has your best interest in His mind. Even if God seems silent during the waiting times, you can know that He is at work, and using waiting as a powerful tool for your good. He knows what is needed to add to your character in preparation for the things He has in store for you next! He uses His wisdom to impart wisdom in you. He uses your weakness to impart His strength.  He is giving you time to hone your skills and abilities. He uses your impatience to build humility and dependence upon Him.

1 Peter 5:6 says, Humble yourselves, therefore, under the might hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. The timing belongs to Him. Your mission is to wait.

Pray With Us

Most Merciful Father in Heaven, I grow weary from waiting and lose track of how you want to use the time to mature me in my level of trust in You.  I don’t know what You are preparing me for, but as Isaiah said, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” I want to be a vessel You can use.  I trust that Your timing is always perfect. Help me to be still and really know that You alone are God, and You are doing in this world what only You can do.  I love You, Lord, and I bless Your Mighty Name,

Amen.
