Home Invasion

Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Years of criminal home invasions brought a new, easy to acquire and install invention—the home video doorbell!  Home security systems allow you to watch who is coming up the drive or sidewalk, who is leaving a package at your door, even whose pets are running wild across the yard.  Intruders can be stopped and visitors welcomed.

Jesus told the people of the church at Laodicea that they were wretched, pitiable, poor, blind and naked, but that he wanted to come into their abode nonetheless. Warner Sallman, an American painter of the last century, is well known for The Head of Christ and Christ at the Heart’s Door. When you take a good look at the latter one, you will see that there is no handle on the door, no outside hinges. It is up to the person on the inside to open the door. Jesus wants a home-invasion in your life, but He requires that you invite Him in.

Are you open to a home-heart invasion today? He longs to be a part of your life…day to day, moment by moment. He can empathize with your pain, comfort you in your sorrows, and increase your joy. Invite Him to that place, if you never have. And restore Him to the position of authority if He has been reduced from it. Jesus Christ IS Lord!

Pray With Us

Dear Jesus, I don’t always see myself as you see me. In many ways, I am like those Laodiceans of old. I have heard You knocking, and I ask that You come in and assume Your rightful place in my life. Invade my heart. Be my comfort and my joy.

Amen.
