Virus Survivor Credits Prayer for Recovery

God had other plans.

Dan Burke, a Christian author, has survived the coronavirus. His recovery was miraculous given that he had a lifelong lung condition. He was hospitalized, put on a ventilator and appeared to be facing death. But God had other plans.

“I have been hospitalized more times than I can count,” he said. “However, this one was different. This was a deep and dark spiritual warfare.”

When news started months ago about the virus, Burke recalls telling his son, “If I get it, that will be it for me.”

On March 17, symptoms of the virus started to appear in Burke. Several days later, he was in the ER along with his wife Stephanie, who also had symptoms. Both of them tested positive. On his way to the hospital, he finished writing his Will. At the hospital, he told his wife that he loved her for what both believed could be the last time. Then he was put on a ventilator.

Thousands around the world rallied in prayer for him, according to Facebook posts.

A miraculous three days later, he was strong enough to be removed from the ventilator. He was discharged March 27 and remains in recovery at home with his wife.

“I know I’m alive because of our prayers,” he said. “There’s no way I should have come out of that ICU. … I’m grateful that I have studied and lived this reality so deeply before facing this kind of storm.”

Burke recently wrote a book, “Spiritual Warfare and the Discernment of Spirits.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Dan and Stephanie Burke as they continue their recovery from the coronavirus at home.
  • For each American Christian to realize the value of prayer, and how God answers in the depths of both physical and spiritual warfare.
