Reflection of Light

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. – 2 Corinthians 4:7

Solar One is the world’s largest solar-powered electricity-generating station. It stands 300 feet tall in the barren desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. On top of this tower rests a black receiver that is 45 feet high and 23 feet wide, surrounded by 70 heat-conducting tubes. The top of the tower appears as a brilliant ball of fire glowing with a temperature exceeding 1,175 degrees Fahrenheit. On the desert floor surrounding the tower are 1,818 computer-controlled frames, each holding 12 giant mirrors.

When the sunlight strikes these mirrors, it is reflected onto the receiver at the top of the tower. The heat generated at the receiver is then transformed into electrical energy through a system of thermal storage and a turbine generator. The tower itself does not have the ability to generate power. The real source of power is the sun which is reflected onto a receiver.

The message of salvation in Jesus Christ has been entrusted by God to frail and fallible human beings. And the Lord seeks faithful servants to be channels of His incredible power.

Your Heavenly Father gives you the privilege of making an eternal difference in the lives of others. Always remember that He is your power source. Your responsibility is to reflect Him to others through your words and actions. When you make yourself available, He will give you the ability through the power of the Holy Spirit. So, ask Him for opportunities to share the gospel with others. Then leave the results to Him! Pray also that Christians on Capitol Hill will shine His Light to those leaders in need of salvation.

Today’s Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:7

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
