President Signs Massive Stimulus

“This is the biggest relief ever signed”

President Trump gathered with Cabinet members, lawmakers and members of the coronavirus task force in the Oval Office, thanking Republicans and Democrats for setting politics aside and working on getting help to Americans.

He outlined the largest of the financial provisions of the COVID-19 relief bill.

He thanked the Army Corps of Engineers for setting up field hospitals in New York City. He indicated that there are tremendous supplies coming into the U.S. stockpile of equipment, and more information will be provided shortly.

Boeing is going to be making the plastic face shields. Thousands of ventilators are going to be built.  He mentioned other matters being taken care of by the members of the task force and American businesses.

Mitch McConnell spoke and said, “The American people needed this package; we delivered this package.”  Kevin McCarthy said, “To all Americans, we listened to you. You keep doing your part and we’ll do ours. … We’ll defeat this virus together because we’ll all be working together.”

Vice President Mike Pence expressed appreciation and gratitude of the American people for this tremendous accomplishment. “Congress stepped forward in bipartisan fashion. And today every American, every American business can be assured that help is on the way.”

Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said, “Mr. President, you told us to think big, and we’ve been thinking big! … We are committed to moving forward quickly and will get money in people’s pockets quickly.”

Labor Secretary Scalia also mentioned the federal paid leave bill passed last week. “This is the third piece of bipartisan legislation passed in three weeks. Unprecedented.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci also expressed his thanks to everyone. “This is what America is all about.”  He talked about the direct and indirect impact of the virus on everyone. “I feel very good about what is happening here today.”

Dr. Deborah Birx expressed great thanks to the president and others as did Kevin Brady and several lawmakers.

The president acknowledged the talent “in this room,” and the people of America who have pulled together so well.  This “invisible enemy” has put us to the test, but we will be coming through this stronger than ever because of all we have learned and are doing.

Others relayed that American businesses are protected, and Americans’ paychecks are protected. Our public health and our economic health have been protected.

Larry Kudlow predicted a tremendous rebound later this year.  Business wants to do it, he and the president agreed.

Following all the comments, the president said he has never signed anything with a “t” on it, then he proceeded to sign the $2.2 trillion stimulus legislation.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For quick action on the part of the Department of the Treasury and others charged with distributing the funds and overseeing the activities of the recipients, when required.
  • For Americans to breathe a sigh of relief that “help is coming.”
