Questions

You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. – Matthew 22:29

The popularity of virtual assistant home speakers has sparked a thriving industry in entertainment by asking the device silly questions.  Chuckles are available by inquiring “How do you like your coffee?” or “Will you marry me?”

An important aspect in the role of any leader is fielding the questions people ask. The Bible recounts a conversation between Jesus and the leaders of a Jewish sect called the Sadducees. In an effort to discredit Jesus as a teacher, they contrived a complicated religious problem for him to solve and smugly sat back anticipating His struggle. However, Jesus’ response likely stunned most of them as He ignored their ridiculous construct and went straight to the point… their spiritual ignorance!

The Sadducees were certainly dedicated to religion yet missed the actual Son of God, Jesus, standing right in front of them! By focusing on the wrong things, they missed an opportunity to know God personally. Don’t you fall into that trap!  Avoid getting caught up in religious arguing and the insanity of political disputes by humbly seeking to know God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  He will address your genuine uncertainties through His word and you can trust the Holy Spirit to guide you to wisdom as you know Him better.

Pray for believing churches across America to stand in their communities as beacons of sound judgment, rightly dividing the word of God. As the Scriptures are examined people are led to faith, leaving the silly questions for their devices.

Today’s Verse: Matthew 22:29

But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.
