Northern Border Closed to Non-Essential Traffic

Mutual agreement with Canada

On Wednesday, President Trump announced that the U.S. and Canada are temporarily closing their shared border to non-essential traffic as part of the effort to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Trade will not be affected,” the president said, promising details to follow.

The closure was done by mutual consent of both nations.

Plans for the U.S. border with Mexico remain in development. The Department of Homeland Security is considering a plan that would turn away asylum seekers and anyone who crossed into the U.S. illegally.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump, the coronavirus task force, and the decisions that are being made for the protection of the American people.
  • For Canada’s prime minister Trudeau who is currently in self-quarantine after his wife Sophie tested positive for the virus.
  • About the reliance Canada has on U.S. food exports, and the oil the U.S. imports from Canada.
