House Unveils Coronavirus Plan

Coordinates with White House for financial aid package

The House of Representatives unveiled their plan to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on Wednesday. The bill has many similarities with the plan announced by President Trump during his public address on Wednesday night including plans for free testing and income security. The bill is expected to go to a vote on Thursday before being sent over to the Senate.

The bill also includes help for lower-income individuals including $1.3 billion in emergency food aid, funding for increased caseloads for unemployment cases, and assured paid sick leave of two-thirds of workers’ wages for three months if caring for themselves or sick relatives. The White House is supportive of the measures and has encouraged the House “to pass legislation quickly.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the House of Representatives would be guided to the best legislation to protect public health.
  • That President Trump’s actions would be effective in stopping the spread of the disease.
  • For Congress to work with the White House to contain the coronavirus.
