Help Us Reach Our Nation for Prayer

We want to openly share our needs and keep you informed about the status of this ministry. Since 2001, this ministry has been reaching millions of Americans with the help of God’s people, who have graciously underwritten the daily expenses of the prayer team. Every gift, no matter the size, is of great help. We invite you to prayerfully consider helping us meet our monthly budgeted need with a gift today.

Thank you for partnering with us in prayer.

QUICK NAVIGATION

  • Sunday, May 19

Today, President Joe Biden will deliver the commencement address at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Director Steve Benjamin of the White House Office of Public Engagement visited the historically black men’s liberal arts college ahead of the president’s visit to assure students and faculty that President Biden’s message will focus on his hopes for graduates’ futures and the celebration of their accomplishments.

Director Benjamin also met to verify the security of the event, as antisemitic protests and demonstrations have taken place on many university campuses across the nation.

Later, the president will travel to Detroit, Michigan, to deliver the keynote speech at the NAACP’s 69th Annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

    • For the safety of the president as he travels to Atlanta.
    • For wisdom for President Biden as he delivers the commencement address at Morehouse College.
    • For Secret Service agents, campus police, and local law enforcement officers as they seek to maintain security, both at the commencement and campaign events.

Vantage Point Devotional
  • Name Above All Names

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,         Philippians 2:9

The leader of the Roman superpower during the years of the Apostle Paul’s ministry was Emperor Nero. His infamy and his evil were widely known. However, he held a strange popularity outside of Rome, largely because he was generous with the empire’s money and tended to give cash hand-outs to ordinary people, giving him a “common touch.” From the rule of Julius Caesar, a cult of emperor worship had arisen in the Roman provinces. By the time of Nero, ultimate allegiance and worship were being demanded, becoming an obligation for everyone. It is no wonder the Christians of the first century had problems giving allegiance, much less worship, to the emperor.

Although fully human, Jesus was not like any other man. He consistently spoke of the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Heaven. Theologian and author Dr. Gordon Fee wrote, “You cannot know anything about Jesus, anything, if you miss the kingdom of God.” At the inception of His ministry, Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). His parables and ministry brought glimpses of His eternal kingdom to all who would listen (Matthew 13:44-47; 22:2). Later, as today’s verse says, God exalted Jesus to the place where His Name is above all other names—He is King of kings and Lord of lords forever.

He reigns now! John Piper writes, “There’s the absolute, all-embracing, all-pervasive rule of God’s providence over all nations at all times and in all places.” Piper says, “His rule at this point is not to build a political or national or earthly civic order. That comes later. His purpose now is to establish his saving dominion in the hearts and lives of the elect from every tribe and tongue and people and nation in the world.” Pray for governing officials in the United States to recognize and acknowledge that all rule, authority, power, and dominion belong to God alone, and come to repent and worship Him.

    Today’s Verse: Philippians 2:9

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
