Secretary Esper Clarifies Iranian Conflict
Shared the president's concern of upcoming attack
On Monday, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper clarified actions taken by the U.S. military in Iran over the past couple of weeks. The Trump administration has made it clear over the past few days that the reasoning for the assassination of Major General Qassim Suleimani was due to an “imminent” attack on U.S. assets. However, it was not clear where or when such attacks were expected to take place.
Secretary Esper explained that prior reports that four embassies in the middle east were the targets of such an attack were incorrect, as there were no official reports of such actions. However, Secretary Esper stated he shared the president’s concern saying, “I share the president’s view that probably — my expectation was they were going to go after our embassies. The embassies are the most prominent display of American presence in a country.”
- That God would give secretary Esper wisdom on how best to handle the Iranian conflict.
- For the Lord to guide President Trump on what military action to take in the Middle East.
- For peaceful relations between the U.S. and Iran
