Navy Seizes Iranian Weapons

Missile parts en route to Yemen

On Wednesday, the Department of Defense announced that the U.S. Navy had seized what it called a “significant cache” of suspected guided missile parts from Iran that were headed to Yemen. The seizure occurred in the northern Arabian Sea during a meeting between Secretary Pompeo and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu about Iran. Such parts are illegal to trade between countries.

According to a Pentagon spokesperson, “An initial investigation indicates that these advanced missile components are of Iranian origin.” This is not the first time that the U.S. has accused Iran of smuggling these components. As a result, the U.S. has added roughly 14,000 troops in the region to aid in the efforts of peacekeeping in the area.
