President Trump Attends Flag Presentation Ceremony

D-Day American flag to be displayed at the Smithsonian

President Donald Trump attended a flag presentation ceremony earlier this week at the White House. During a visit from Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, the president was presented with an American flag that flew aboard a ship carrying service members to Normandy on D-Day. The flag had been purchased by two Dutch gentlemen, who wanted to return it to the U.S. as a way to thank them for the sacrifice made during WWII to liberate the Netherlands.

The presentation of the flag came about a month after the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Along with Prime Minister Rutte, U.S. Ambassador Peter Hoekstra and several World War II veterans were in attendance. The flag will be displayed at the Smithsonian's Museum of American History.

As the Lord Leads, pray with us:
  • For wisdom for the president as he regularly meets with foreign leaders.
  • For the president as he serves as the commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces.
