Supreme Court Waiting to Review of DACA Until Lower Court Rulings
May take up the case later in the year.
The Supreme Court will delay taking up a case concerning the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program until lower courts have had a chance to review the case and issue rulings. President Donald Trump has been considering phasing out the DACA program in favor of larger immigration reform which includes similar protections. Currently, DACA provides temporary protection from deportation, work authorization, and the ability to apply for a social security number for undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. before the age of 16.
Lower courts have issued nationwide injunctions stopping changes in the program while they review the cases.
- For wisdom for the Supreme Court as they decide what cases they will hear next term.
- For wisdom for President Trump and his administration as they continue to decide if and how they will phase out the DACA program.
