President Pushes For Hospital Transparency
Executive Order calls for price disclosures
President Trump signed a new executive order on Monday calling for upfront disclosures from hospitals that receive federal funding. The new rules would require the hospitals to post their actual prices for common tests and procedures in order for consumers to be able to shop for the best services, and ultimately keep costs down.
During a signing ceremony at the White House, the president said, “For too long it’s been virtually impossible for Americans to know the real price and quality of health care services and the services they receive. As a result, patients face significant obstacles shopping for the best care at the best price, driving up health care costs for everyone.” There are no changes being made immediately, as the order calls for the executive branch to create new rules governing the disclosures moving forward.
- For President Trump to have wisdom on the best route to take when it comes to the U.S. medical industry.
For the executive branch to create helpful rules that will bring about a desirable end to this process.
For greater health and access to care for all Americans as a result of this order
