David Bernhardt Confirmed as Interior Secretary
Knows department “inside and out,” senator says
On Thursday afternoon, the Senate confirmed David Bernhardt as Interior Secretary. Mr. Bernhardt has worked at the Interior Department in many capacities, including solicitor during the George W. Bush administration.
Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, speaking on the Senate floor, said, “I believe Mr. Bernhardt is clearly qualified to serve as secretary. He knows the Interior Department inside and out and is well versed on all the issues that come before it. He clearly has the knowledge and experiences to serve as secretary.”
The confirming vote was 56-41.
