Court Allows Asylum Seekers to Wait in Mexico
Decision by Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
The Trump Administration had requested the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to take action in response to an order from a U.S. District Court Judge which would have stopped the Homeland Security Department from sending asylum seekers to Mexico to await their court hearings. Late Friday, the Ninth Circuit put a temporary stop to the injunction set by the lower court.
The court has given until 9 a.m. Tuesday for the opposition to file their response to the administration’s emergency motion. How soon after that it will rule on whether to make allowing the asylum seekers’ Mexico wait permanent is unknown.
When he learned of the Ninth Circuit’s decision, President Trump tweeted, “Finally, great news at the Border!”
- For the judicial panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to deal wisely with the asylum seekers.
For President Trump and his intentions to establish greater border security.
