Senate Confirms Naomi Rao to D.C. Circuit
Fills position left vacant by Justice Kavanaugh
When Brett Kavanaugh was awarded a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, he left a vacancy in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Naomi Rao to that position. She is the former administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, an agency within the Office of Management and Budget.
Rao was intensely scrutinized during her confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The vote to confirm her was 53-46 and along party lines.
- For Judge Rao as she begins her duties as a jurist on the powerful D.C. Circuit Court.
For other nominees who are waiting for hearings or votes in the Senate.
