Shooting at Manufacturing Plant in Aurora, Illinois

Multiple fatalities reported, others injured

A gunman was killed in a shooting that occurred this afternoon at a manufacturing company in Aurora, Illinois. Multiple fatalities were reported and several others, including six police officers, were injured. The injured officers are in stable condition, a spokesman for the mayor’s office said.

Aurora police said the area around the plant is still on lockdown.

Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, both of Illinois, each tweeted about the shooting and said they were tracking updates.

President Trump has also been briefed. He said, “Great job by law enforcement in Aurora, Illinois. Heartfelt condolences to all of the victims and their families. America is with you!” The president continues to monitor the situation, including the condition of the injured officers.
