Secretary Pompeo Warns of Huawei Cooperation
The Secretary cautioned Hungary from Chinese involvement
On Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave the press updates on the current negotiations between the United States and China. Currently, Secretary Pompeo is traveling through European countries on a tour to promote American ideals and caution European nations of the growing influence of China and Russia in the region. Currently, the U.S. and China are in trade negotiations ahead of the deadline by the president's administration to increase tariffs on Chinese goods.
The growing influence of the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Huawei was one area of concern that Secretary Pompeo raised. The U.S. has accused the Chinese manufacturer of using their technology to steal U.S. secrets. While in Hungary the Secretary stated, “We want to make sure we identify [to Hungary] the opportunities and the risks with using that equipment. And then they will get to make their decisions.”
- For Secretary Pompeo to have safe travel, and that he would be used by God to improve relations around the world.
- For open lines of communication between the U.S. and Hungary as both nations form ongoing relationships.
- For U.S. officials to have wisdom as they negotiate trade deals with China.
